My love for baking started as a child. I looked for any event or any opportunity that I could to bake something. Later, my father was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. That is when I turned my attention to gluten-free baking. The only products available at that time were not so appealing. I strived to create items that were gluten free and tasted good.
With lots and lots of practice, I was able to come up with some gluten-free recipes that were much better tasting. Then, between going to culinary school and doing an internship at a 100% gluten-free bakery, I gained more confidence in my abilities and came up with more ideas. I then had a lifestyle change and wanted to create my own day-to-day recipes using only vegan ingredients as well.
My husband and I moved from Phoenix to Blacksburg, where we were welcomed by the community. We started at the local farmers market and created this business called Sweet Rebellion. We quickly developed a loyal following. We are so thankful for the people in this community and their support, as they are the reason we were able to open our doors.
